Oracle Announces Major Innovations Across the Oracle Cloud Platform

The news from Oracle OpenWorld 2016 is plentiful this week, as Oracle Executive Chairman and CTO, Larry Ellison showcased new Oracle innovations in his opening keynote presentation at Oracle OpenWorld 2016, in San Francisco’s Moscone Center.

Ellison introduced, Oracle Database 12c Release 2, as well as more than 20 new Oracle Cloud Platform and application services that extend selection and access for customers.

Innovations across the Oracle portfolio include Oracle’s new Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) based on Oracle Database 12c Release 2, a cloud first technology aimed at providing businesses with access to the world’s fast, scalable and reliable database technology in a cost-effective and flexible Cloud environment. For the company:

“Oracle Database 12c Release 2 is fully compatible from entry-level to the largest database workloads and enables businesses to take advantage of on-premise-grade capabilities to run database development.”

Oracle’s new enhancements and Cloud Platform offerings include tools for all application development models; including simplified migration and extension of enterprise workloads in the Cloud, tools for Cloud native, and low-code development.

With today’s announcements, Thomas Kurian, president of Oracle product development explained the importance of the new offerings:
